Practical Guidance on Section 504: Developing a Defensible Plan

March 18, 2025, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

This Academy will review the identification, eligibility, and legal factors in maintaining compliance with Section 504 in the school environment. Critical issues and practices will be outlined as it pertains to avoiding discrimination and developing Section 504 Plans that are comprehensive and appropriate. Special emphasis will be on the interplay and differences between the IDEA and Section 504. 

IPA will deliver this ONLINE training through Zoom. To participate in the virtual workshop, you must have Internet access, a web camera, and a microphone.

You will receive the Zoom training link, handouts and detailed instructions in the registration confirmation from netforum@ilprincipals.org. If you don’t see the confirmation in your inbox after registering, please email workshops@ilprincipals.org.

  • Registration closes at 12 p.m. the day before the event.
  • Registrations are not accepted over the phone.
  • Receive a refund. Credits and refunds will be issued as follows:
    • If written notice is received more than five business days prior to the event, a $25 service charge will be assessed.
    • If written notice is received within five business days of the event, a $50 service charge will be assessed.
  • ISBE requires attendance during the entire workshop to receive Administrator Academy credit. Individuals arriving late or leaving early, for any reason, are not eligible for Academy credit.
  • Groups can register using the Group Registration Form.
