This session will provide participants with examples of successes and areas of growth in the process of introducing restorative practices in a Chicagoland area high school. There will also be specific examples of restorative outcomes for behavior incidents.
This workshop will address the importance of social and emotional learning in schools. It will begin by defining SEL and its impact on students, staff, and school climate. We will look at our own SEL skills and how those skills can impact our professional roles and various relationships. Most importantly, we will explore how we can help others develop their own SEL skills and how the school system itself can be improved through an intentional and explicit focus on social and emotional learning.
The presentation will actively engage participants in discussions regarding the nuances of the Danielson Framework. Along the way, myths and misunderstandings will be dispelled. Inclusion of pending changes to the Framework will occur as available from the Danielson Group.
How does exploring and deeply understanding our racial, gender and cultural identity make us better advocates for creating equitable learning environments and how this guides our school leadership?
This session will focus on the WHY behind many people’s avoidance of meaningful conversations. In addition, we will work through practical strategies to make these interactions less intimidating and more impactful.
