Dr. Anthony McConnell is the Superintendent of Schools at Steger SD 194 in Steger, IL. Anthony began his career as a high school social studies and English language teacher at Rock Island High School in Rock Island, IL. As a school administrator, Anthony has served in various positions from assistant principal to superintendent. As principal of Kipling Elementary School in Deerfield, IL, Anthony led the school in constructing STEM learning spaces, advancing academic achievement in reading and math, and implementing a school-wide social-emotional learning framework. Kipling was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in his final year as principal. Anthony obtained his bachelor’s degree in history and anthropology from Western Kentucky University and his master’s degree and doctorate in educational leadership from Western Illinois University.
