Courtney White is a 28-year educator spending 19 years as a department chair for physical education, health and driver education, currently at Downers Grove North High School. Courtney is one of four SEED (Seeking Educational Equity & Diversity) facilitators in his district leading sessions for faculty and staff to reflect on their experiences and hearing others experiences of being members of dominant and non-dominant groups. Courtney is also involved in his district’s push to develop more equitable outcomes for all students as well as being a member of the districts diversity committee, charged with recruiting and maintaining diverse teaching candidates in the district. Courtney helped develop and leads the Black Student Union at Downers Grove North High School allowing those students opportunities to be involved in leadership roles as well as provide an outlet to discuss issues and concerns that applies to them.
