Lisa Vahey's work and volunteering focuses on improving instruction, leadership, and collaboration, always with an equity lens. She partners with schools, districts and nonprofits, often coaching teachers and leaders around literacy and student engagement practices. A former Chicago classroom teacher, instructional coach and leader who graduated from Northwestern University and Lesley University (Cambridge, MA), she's grateful for the many informal and formal mentors and coaches who push her ongoing learning, so she can do better, especially as she strives to practice antiracism. Her work in schools includes curriculum work (including standards alignment, planning, teaching practices and assessment), scaling instructional coaching and developing professional learning systems. Lisa Vahey lives in Shaker Heights, Ohio and has two young adult children and a husband and dog, each with their own talents and passions that inspire her every day.
