Dr. Ivette Dubiel

Dr. Ivette M. Dubiel is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Diverse Learners for Oswego SD308 and is the CEO and Chief Equity Officer for Systemic Educational Equity, LL, a full-service diversity, equity and inclusion consulting firm that offers a wide range of supports and services such as Equity Audits, Equity Assessments, Equity Action Plans, customized coaching, and professional development. Their clients range from not-for-profits, private corporations to public sectors like park districts, libraries, and school districts. Dr. Dubiel has served as the Executive Director of Equity and Professional Learning for the DuPage Regional Office of Education, the largest regional office of education supporting 42 school districts in Illinois. Dr. Dubiel has also served as the Director of Equity for the fourth largest school district in Illinois, Indian Prairie School District 204. Additionally, Dr. Dubiel was the Assistant Director for Community Unit School District 308 where she led initiatives and improvements for the English Language Learners Department, Gifted and Talented Programming and Parent Outreach. She was also both an ESL sheltered classroom and general education teacher. Dr. Dubiel currently leads the Illinois Coalition of Education Equity Leaders, and is a member of the Illinois State Board of Education, Diverse and Learner Ready Teacher Network, which recently adopted the Illinois Culturally Responsive Teaching and Leading Standards.

As well, Dr. Dubiel serves as an Adjunct Professor for two universities teaching theories of pedagogy for diverse students, diversity, social justice and critical transformative leadership at Lewis University and Aurora University. Dr. Dubiel has earned a masters degree in Public Administration from the Illinois Institute of Technology, a masters degree in Teaching From Aurora University, a masters degree in Educational Leadership from Aurora University. She earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Lewis University. Her research focused on social justice in the dissertation: A Case Study of Care and Relationships in Education: Opposing the Neoliberal Agenda.

Most recently, Dr. Dubiel was selected to be a part of the Community Leadership and Equity Advisory Committee for U.S. Representative Lauren Underwood of the 14th congressional district that was recently recognized by Madam Vice President Kamala Harris. She was named as one of the 2022 Honoree as a Latina of Influence for Hispanic Influence.

Dr. Dubiel is the founder of the Illinois Coalition of Educational Equity Leaders (ICEEL), a collaboration of PreK-12 educators and educational leaders advancing equity in their respective organizations. Dr. Dubiel was the founding president of the Illinois Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents and has written several blogs for Huffington Post ‘Latino Voices’.

Prior to her career in education, Dr. Dubiel served as an Investigator with the Chicago Police Department Office of Professional Standards and an Investigator with the State of Illinois Office of Executive Inspector General.

Ivette and her husband work hard everyday to raise their two teenage children.
