IPA provides professional learning opportunities for educators to meet “evaluator retraining” license requirements. To qualify for the retraining courses, individuals must have previously qualified as an evaluator by completing the Growth Through Learning modules.
Individuals who evaluate teachers must complete two state-approved administrator academies during their renewal cycle: Professional Practice (IPA #1801) and Student Growth (IPA #3000*).
Teacher and Principal Evaluators
Individuals who evaluate teachers and principals must complete three state-approved administrator academies during their renewal cycle: two for Professional Practice (IPA #1801 and IPA #1865) and one for Student Growth (IPA #3002*).
Individuals who evaluate principals only must complete two state-approved administrator academies during their renewal cycle: one Professional Practice (IPA #1865) and one Student Growth AA (IPA #3001*).
Retraining Course Schedule
Districts may contact IPA to schedule delivery of courses onsite.
*Individuals who evaluate teachers only register for this course as #3000; those who evaluate principals only use #3001; and those who evaluate teachers and principals register as #3002. Individuals registering for #3000, 3001, or 3002 must complete an ISBE-required, brief pre-academy webinar and survey at least three days prior to the academy.
May I Complete All My Required Evaluator Retraining Academies In One Year?
As long as you are in the proper renewal cycle, you may choose to complete all of your required evaluator retraining academies during one year. If you choose to complete more than one during a year, you will receive credit toward your required academy for that year and you will receive professional development hours for any other retraining academies completed in that same year. Participants in one or multiple retraining academies in a single year must complete all required pre- and post-academy work—including the application/dissemination plan.
