Mentoring & Coaching

Serving as a mentor or coach for another school leader is a rewarding experience. IPA mentors and coaches receive in-depth training and continuous support to maximize their success supporting others. Often, IPA mentors and coaches report growing in their own practice by interacting with other mentors, coaches and their proteges.

Qualifications

  • Desire to help a new school leader navigate early years on the job
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Passion for leadership and the role of learning leaders leading their learning organizations
  • Experience analyzing student data for equity and achievement, building professional learning communities, growing staff talent, and aligning professional development and instructional programs toward student success
  • Hold or have held an Illinois principal license
  • Minimum of three years of related experience for the school leader(s) you will mentor/coach
  • Agree to initial and on-going training while serving as a mentor/coach
