Dr. Jill Engel

School Matters
Jill is the founder and President of School Matters, where she partners with school districts to achieve desired results through practices focused on continuous improvement. Jill has provided support in more than thirty school districts throughout Illinois.
Jill has expertise in the development, implementation, and monitoring of strategic plans and school improvement plans. She has experience in the collaborative design of highly effective performance evaluation plans, including effective feedback and calibration, resulting in consistent and meaningful evaluation practices. Jill provides leadership coaching and supports the development of highly effective teams. She has effectively supported curriculum, assessment, and instruction practices at the strategic and operational levels. Jill is a trainer for the Illinois State Board of Education’s Initial Evaluator Training, Principal Evaluator Training, and Recertification Administrator Academies for administrators across Illinois. Jill has also served as a contributor on IPA projects including the Illinois School Leader Institute and Cycle of Inquiry Development Tool.
Jill’s background includes teaching in both elementary and secondary school settings, serving as a Special Education Coordinator, Assistant Principal, Principal, and Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources. She holds a Doctorate in Curriculum, Instruction and Educational Psychology from Loyola University; a Master’s in Educational Administration from Roosevelt University; and a Bachelor of Arts in Education and Psychology from DePaul University.
