Dr. Thomas Mahoney

Retired Superintendent

Tom most recently served as the Superintendent of Oregon Community Unit School District for 14 years. Today, Dr. Mahoney serves as an executive coach for superintendents, principals, and NCAA coaches. His coaching approach is transformational and inquiry-based, designed to challenge leaders, sharpen clarity around vision and outcomes, and strengthen communication and relationships at every level of an organization. Through this work, he helps leaders increase their effectiveness, navigate complexity, and accelerate results while staying grounded in purpose. As an educator, Tom has served as a secondary math teacher, coach, building administrator, and Assistant Superintendent. His experiences as a teacher, serving a diverse student population, continue to inform his advocacy for equity and whole-child education in his administrative roles. Dr. Mahoney is a sought-after presenter and has presented at ASU-GSV International Summit and on behalf of the International Center for Leadership in Education, FranklinCovey, HumanEx, and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Additionally, Tom has presented, consulted, and provided professional development at the local, state, and national levels.   Tom and his wife Angela, who serves as a building principal, celebrated their 33rd year of marriage in 2025. They have two daughters, Maise and Delaney.
