Alison Maley has served as Government and Public Relations Director for the Illinois Principals Association since February 2011, lobbying the Illinois General Assembly and other entities on behalf of the Association and its member principals. She collaborates with the Illinois State Board of Education and other state and national advocacy organizations, communicates legislative issues to IPA's general membership, tracks and reports on federal and state legislation, and promotes the Association and the principalship across Illinois. Over the last 15 years, she has also served as a keynote presenter and speaker, delivering numerous legislative presentations to educators, policymakers, and stakeholders across the state.
Before joining IPA, Alison served as a District Legislative Aide in the Illinois House of Representatives and was a Director of Development at Eastern Illinois University.
Alison holds a Master of Arts in Political Science, with a focus in Public Administration & Public Policy, from Eastern Illinois University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Speech Communication, also from EIU. In 2015, EIU's Political Science Department honored her with its Distinguished Political Science Alumni Award. She was also named to the Springfield Business Journal's "40 Under 40" in 2015.
A native of Alton, Illinois, Alison now lives in Springfield with her husband and two children.
