Stephanie Brown

Assistant Director of Student Support Services and Wellness
Morton CUSD 709

My favorite roles are that I am a mom to three beautiful crazy children, a wife, and an educator. I love people, and I love to learn! I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Spanish, a Master's Degree in Counseling, a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, a Certificate in Mental Health, and a Certificate in Life Coaching. Most recently, I practiced as an elementary school principal. Prior to that I was a school counselor for a decade, and I had the opportunity to teach English in Mexico. I have also been an adjunct faculty member at Bradley University and am a Neurosequential Model of Education (NME) Advanced Trainer through the Neurosequential Network. Currently, I am the Assistant Director of Student Support Services & Wellness in the Morton School District.

My educational philosophy is that we, as a system, work with the whole child through a developmentally-informed and biologically-respectful lens to provide an environment that is healthy, safe, respectful, relational, engaged, supportive developmentally, brain friendly, and challenging. We must meet everyone where they are and challenge and engage them both academically and social-emotionally! I consider myself a wellness and personal growth junkie and a brain-friendly advocate. It is my honor to walk alongside other educators as we all strive to show up as our best self to serve those who enter our school doors!
